Valokuvia lumettomassa puutarhassa

Ei sitä lunta vain tule, eikä valo sisätiloissa pilvisenä päivänä enää riittänyt kuvaamiseen. Rehasin pari tuolia lumettomaan puutarhaan ja tein sinne pienen ulkostudion. Maatuskat ja tyynynliinat herättivät myös kissamme mielenkiinnon; tosin vain hetkeksi.

Something is missing, snow. Inside when the weather is cloudy there's just not enough light to take pictures the way I'd like to. So I took two old chairs out into the snowless garden and made my self a little studio. Matrjoskas and pillowcases got also the attention of our cat but not for long.

Löytöjä läheltä

Vanhassa talossa asumisen hyvä puoli on siinä, että vinteiltä ja varastoista löytyy kaikkea kivaa sisustustavaraa. Vanhoja peltikylttejä olen löytänyt useita, joista pari vielä odottaa sijoituspaikkaansakin. Leipälaatikoita, puntari ja postipankin vanha kipsinen possu kuuluivat talokauppaan. Käytännöllisin kaikista on kuitenkin wc-paperiteline, josta aikonaan on rullakaupalla paperia myyty.

An advantage in living in old house is that you can make great finds from the attic or the storage rooms. I've found many old metal signs. A few of them still wait for their final place on the wall. Bread boxes, old scale and a piggy bank from the local bank. The most practical of all these thing is a toilet paper holder where they've sold toilet paper roll by roll.

Ensilumi

Toissa päivänä ensilumi satoi isoina hiutaleina hiljalleen maahan. Kauan se ei kuitenkaan maassa pysynyt, mutta sain muutaman valokuvan siitä todisteeksi. Naapurin omenat ovat vielä puussa ja pihlajan lehdistä löytyi todella kauniita ruskean sävyjä. Lumi niiden pinnalla oli kerinnyt sulaa jo pisaroiksi

The day before yesterday the first snow landed on our yard. It didn't stay long before it melted away but I got a few picture to prove it. Neighbor still has his apples in the tree and the brown leaves had such wonderful shades of brown. The snow on them had already melted into small drops.

Kirpparilöytöjä

Eilen tein taas kerran elämäni löydön. Kirpparin nurkasta löysin punakernisen Artekin 69-tuolin hintaan 4 euroa! Ruokapöytämme ympärillä näitä on jo tarpeeksi, mutta ainahan yhdellen Alvarille tilaa löytyy. Tämä yksilö oli epäonnekseni maalattu valkoiseksi, mutta eikähän se saada suht kivuttomasti palautettua alkuperäiseen asuunsa. Toistaiseksi jätän sen nyt noin, katsotaan sitten kun sille lopullinen paikka löytyy. Karttapalloa puoliskoni on himiöinyt kauan. En sille kovin ole lämmennyt, mutta nyt kun seitsemän euron pallon kotiin rehasin ja valot siihen laitoin, olen vallan ihastunut sen siniseen valoon ja tunnelmaan.

Yesterday I made the find of my life again. At the darkest corner in the flea market I found a 69-chair made by Artek. It only cost 4 euros! We have already enough same kind of chairs around our dining table but there's always room for one more. The chair was painted white but with a little work we can store it to its original look. For now I'll leave it as it is until I find a permanent place for it. The globe has been something my husband has wanted for a while. I didn't warm up to the idea at first but now when the 7 euro miracle is at home and the light is on, I'm very fond of it. It gives a wonderful blueish light and atmosphere.

Pikkuisten lahjat

Pieniä tyttösiä lähipiiriin kuukauden sisällä on syntynyt kaksi. Tein kaksi identtistä pakettia ja korttia. Liiman kanssa en viitsi läträtä vaan kasasin vaaleanpunaiset kortit laminointikalvon taskuun ja koneen läpi vain. Helppoa ja yksinkertaista eikä tahmaisia sormia.

In the last month two little girls have been born to our friends. Not twins though, different parents. I made two identical presents and congratulations cards. I hate to glue stuff so I put the cards together with a laminator. So simple and easy and no cloddy fingers.

Pullaa!

En tiedä mikä nyt vaivaa, mutta pullataikinan vaivasin eilen. Meinasin tehdä korvapuusteja, mutta niistä en koskaan saa samannäköisiä niin päädyin tällaisiin kiemurapulliin. Laatu ei kyllä nytkään ollut tasalaatuista, mutta ei se haittaa.

I don't know what's wrong with me but I had to make some Finnish pulla yesterday. Usually the pastries I make are not same size or even colour. It happened again this time but who cares if they just taste good.
